On a mission to Surve

Do you believe in your mission enough to hang it on a wall?

To share it with all the customers, employees, and vendors who pass through?

To invite critique of every interaction against that mission?

Surve does.

And boy, they nailed it. Fresh food from a scratch kitchen. No Freezers. No Microwaves. On a mission is to provide a one-of-a-kind experience that guests seek to repeat; where all become friends and friends become family.

This is not a restaurant review or product placement. I’m not endorsed or sponsored. This is genuine appreciation and admiration for the experience I had at Surve in Sunbury last night.

I was in an unfamiliar part of town, on an adventure with a small group of new friends. We picked Surve mostly because it was nearby, it was open, and we appreciated the typography they used in their logo. Once we walked through the door, we became fast fans. We were greeted warmly and enthusiastically by the hostess, the food was hyped up by the waitress, and Chef Joe delivered. A simple, healthy, comfort meal served with a generous side of hospitality. Some of the kindest people I’ve ever met work here. They expressed authentic care for our dinner. And our group of four barely broke 50 bucks. Surve is proof that Unreasonable Hospitality can exist outside of that one place in New York City.

So while I’m floored by what we discovered, and I’d encourage anyone in or around Columbus to visit them, the takeaway is greater than a meal. Any business can follow this example. Broadcast your mission to the world. Ask to be measured against it. And then just nail it.

Kudos Surve.
