For Nuno
This is for Nuno.
She was abandoned in a dumpster. Never learned how to be a real cat. She couldn’t jump very well. She nursed on blankets and was afraid of plastic bags. She was forever scared there wouldn't be enough food in her bowl, so she ate more than she should.

With us, she grew into a silly, happy, and loving cat. All despite her hardship. Her sweetness made her even more special. And every day, we tried to give her a safe home and a wonderful life. To make up for that rough start and to show her she was loved.

Near the end, she needed medicine rubbed into her ears every morning. It became a ritual I now miss dearly. The vet warned a side effect would be "excessive affection". I was OK with that. There will never be another cat like Nuno. I think I'll miss her for eternity.

Susan and I are funding the Nuno Guardian Angels program at Cat Welfare Association for her. Every struggling or overlooked cat deserves the chance Nuno got. A bowl that's never empty, a home that won’t discard her, and a family to pour all their love into her.
